Among all the subtle drum-machines and sleek synth sparkle, it’s easy to get swept away by the melodies of Kita Alexander’s Like You Want To EP—four tracks of shimmering electro-pop that make up the Australian singer/songwriter’s first release. The fact that she grew up busking Fleetwood Mac and Queen covers at the local farmers market can be heard in tunes like “Wildheart” and the title track, which escalate from cooly restrained verses to bold, breathless refrains. By the time she closes with “High Tops”—a bass-heavy kiss-off with a perfectly sinister edge—Alexander’s debut is disarming.
