Like frequent collaborator Yelawolf, Rittz is a white rapper from the rural south who tempers his hard-luck tales with fast, flashy displays of technical skill. On his third release for indie rap powerhouse Strange Music, Rittz follows the lead of label founder Tech N9ne with brooding, wordy tracks couched in sharp 808 snares and dramatic minor-key synth melodies. The gripping “Until We Meet Again” is an unflinching look at police brutality and racial inequality, while “MVP” responds to criticisms of his speedy flows with a calmly unspooled midtempo narrative.
