Like her fellow travellers Lorde and Grimes, Pixx is doing the noble work of updating classic goth drama for the digital era. The songwriter born Hannah Rodgers merges crystallised keyboard swells with skittering, Aphex Twin–inspired beats and her cascading vocals on "Telescreen", while "Mood Ring Eyes" is chamber pop with a digital sheen. And she likes to work her feelings out on the dance floor, as seen on "Baboo", which contrasts her swirling, overlapping vocals with spritely drum-machine flutterings.
