From ballads to boeremusiek, there are few genres that the husky-voiced raconteur Refentse doesn’t easily take in his stride. Following a rapid rise to fame, the talented young Vereeniging-born acoustic guitarist deservedly went on to palm multiple Ghoema Afrikaanse Music Awards for his distinct, foot-stomping sokkie creations. Deur My Venster is his much-anticipated debut LP, and features collabs with the likes of Laurika Rauch and Anton Goosen. In addition, tracks such as “Vuil Vanderbijl” and “Anoret” also show off Refentse’s own flair for Afrikaans songwriting.
