Mexican singer Jorge Medina emerges as a commanding solo artist, following a decades-spanning run as frontman for La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, and he brings along the group's big-band groove and sharp-tonged lyricism. Produced with fellow Sinaloan eminence Chuy Lizárraga, who lends these songs both elegant polish and visceral punch, Medina's debut album is splashy, soulful and sly, much like the banda hits he made with El Limón. It's also seamlessly eclectic, swinging between triumphant corridos (“Al Cien Y Pasadito"), wounded romanticas (“Prohibido Enamorarse") and slinky cumbias (“Cuando Te Beso”).
