Where “Fade Away” oozes the sweaty, Southern soul-rock that initially earned them a rabid fanbase, “Wish I Knew You” offers a whole new look, with David Shaw’s gruff croon dancing over sleek disco beats. The love-weary “Gold to Glass” goes further, thanks to its slinky Latin guitar licks and the kind of thumping bass that fuels modern R&B.
