As explicitly as the trap-house anthems pouring out of Atlanta, the music made by this Southern California norteño quartet often extols the virtues of the narco hustle. Yet Fuerza Regida’s membership also acknowledges the tribulations that bedevil that lucrative trade, something that gives balance to Del Barrio Hasta Aquí. A profoundly personal sense of loss pervades the reflective corrido “Sigo Chambeando”, accented by some distinct brushes with death. “El Dinero Los Cambio” takes aim at those resentful of success, with Jesús Ortiz more than alluding to the costs paid to become the boss. Taken altogether as one sweeping musical document, the album tells a gripping and humanising crime story, track by unapologetic track.
