Released without much fanfare, Cenizas is Jaar’s second album of 2020 (following 2017 - 2019, under his Against All Logic alias) and a perfect companion piece, textural and restrained where its predecessor was banging. A fog of ambient synths, pensive keys and murmured vocals, it lives up to its namesake, the Spanish word for ashes—his vocals on the title track drift and crackle like remnants from a secret bonfire.
