Following the uncompromising themes of the preceding set Corridos Bélicos, Vol. 2, Sonoran singer-songwriter Luis R Conriquez kicks back with a few musically inclined friends on this eight-song EP. As promised by the title, Pisteando Con Amigos (En Vivo) sees him collaborating with a cadre of talents, like Sinaloa’s Código FN and corridos verdes maestros LEGADO 7, to produce a quintessential soundtrack for drinking to one’s triumphs and troubles. That manifests from the start with Luis Alfonso Partida “El Yaki” on the post-romantic fugue of “Recordarás”. Naturally, Conriquez can’t keep away from the narcocorridos he’s notoriously good at. To that end, he recruits La Ventaja for “Las Asañas Del Doble R” and Los Nuevos Ilegales for “El RR”, both of which suit the spirited nature of these live sessions quite well.
