Second Sight—singers/composers Anusha Ramasubramoney and Pushkar Srivatsal—are one of the most distinct Indian independent acts to emerge in the last half-decade. Their debut album Coral incorporates jazz, funk, blues, soul and Latin music, sometimes on the same song. There’s no mistaking the influence of Hiatus Kaiyote on “Dim Lights” or Lianne La Havas on “Fragile”. But the pair has the rare skill to use those inspirations as shades in polychromatic sonic paintings unlike any other.
