With its dark cinematic themes (that album title references a real West Yorkshire bedlam) and A-list guests (Rosario Dawson appears on twisted lullabye “West Ryder Silver Bullet”), Kasabian’s third record represents a robust uptick in their ambition. Thankfully, all these blockbuster elements—the gospel choir finale of “Happiness”, say—are balanced by Sergio Pizzorno’s unquestionable ear for a gutsy, ear-worming melody. “Fast Fuse” brings full-throttle garage rock, "Fire" might be the band's defining single and “Vlad the Impaler” adds glitchy malevolence to their anthemic formula.
