Following several albums that found them exploring an orchestral take on progressive rock, Lost Songs sees ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead taking what they learned about operatic grandeur and funnelling it into a spate of raging post-hardcore anthems that barrel forward without sacrificing an ounce of ambition. The title track delivers lacerating riffage as it builds to a majestic onslaught of symphonic-guitar bliss, whereas "Pinhole Camera" burns through several composition shifts and thematic segues while retaining its punk immediacy.
