Singer-songwriter Fito Páez conceived his fourth album after he received sad news that his grandmother and great aunt were murdered. It’s a raging and stark chronicle of an Argentina not only broken by a crisis of violence but also, in a perhaps related way, was then living its glory years in rock ’n’ roll. By way of catharsis, the Rosario-born artist poured all his pain and frustration into what is undoubtedly his most visceral album, capturing his grief in songs as overwhelming as “De Mil Novecientos Viente” and the title track.
