Artist Biography
The musical traditions of Morocco have been brought up to date by France-based group Aflak. Representing the combined efforts of the Marakesh-born Fayet Brothers -- Aziz, Lucien, and Jamal -- the group continues to expand on the ancient music of their homeland, introducing Western pop influences and modern instruments including electric guitars and synthesizers to create a musical hybrid that they call "marock'n'roll." Raised among the traditional sounds heard in Marrakesh, the Fayet Brothers have been crafting their unique musical approach since moving to Mourenx, France, in 1980. They spent more than a decade touring France before reaching out to an international audience with their first albums in the early '90s. ~ Craig Harris
