About Airborne
Artist Biography
This US AOR band released a single album in 1979 before going their separate ways, although some members found commercial success elsewhere. Comprising Larry Stewart (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Mike Baird (drums), Beau Hill (vocals, guitar, keyboards), David Zychek (vocals, guitar) and John Pierce (vocals, bass), the album remains one of the better examples of late 70s American AOR. Despite an accent on radio-friendly hooks in the likes of ‘No Exception To The Rule’ and ‘Wastin’ My Time’, the pristine vocal harmonies that epitomize the genre and a highly polished production from DeVore and Olsen, the album was, perhaps surprisingly, a failure and no second album was forthcoming. Hill joined Shanghai before finding his métier as a producer (particularly with Ratt), and Baird went on to become one of AOR’s most sought-after session drummers, enjoying stints with Van Stephenson, Giant and Journey.
