About Électriciennes
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I must have been 10 years old, an age with most boys ask for bicycles and soccer balls for Christmas, and I asked for a record by JM Napoleón. A song about love and heartbreak, things I knew NOTHING about. But I sensed those were important things.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Depeche Mode, Black Celebration Lana Del Rey, Born To Die (The Paradise Edition) Pulp, Different Class I'm primarily a lyricist, and no one writes or has written better than Jarvis Cocker (sorry Leonard!). 'Black Celebration' is the reason I got into music. And Lana is the quintessential crooner - she's like Bukowski and S. Thomson in a velvet voice.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Just Dropped In (feat. Denise Mininfield)” We used to play this song with The Hours Strange, but we never recorded it. One night in a Jazz club in Shanghai (Heyday) I saw Denise sing Gnarl Barley's 'Crazy' and she blew me away. I went to her and point blank asked if she'd record this version.
