The British novelty duo Chas & Dave (singer/guitarist Charles "Chas" Hodges and singer/bassist Dave Peacock) got started in the mid-'70s, when they issued their debut recording, One Fing 'n' Anuvver. The pair formed their own record label shortly thereafter, Rockney. They continued to issue albums on a regular basis, but it was the moderate chart success of their early singles that gradually built the duo a following -- "Strummin," "Gertcha," and "The Sideboard Song" -- before racking up a numerous hits well into the mid-80's, including "Rabbit," "Ossie's Dream," "Ain't No Pleasing You" and "Snooker Loopy." ~ Greg Prato
