Stockholm's Crashdïet emerged in the early 2000s with a sound and style rooted in the Sunset Strip glam/hair metal of the 1980s but with a more pronounced punk element. The band's raw and raunchy blend of Skid Row, Guns N' Roses, and G.G. Allin quickly gained traction in their native Sweden, leading to a string of chart successes like Rest in Sleaze (2005), Generation Wild (2010), and Savage Playground (2013). The 2006 death of vocalist Dave Lepard nearly derailed the band, but Crashdiet persevered, utilizing a lazy susan of lead singers to preach the gospel of sleaze rock on subsequent efforts Rust (2019) and Automaton (2022).
