About Dre Costa
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Backyard summer parties in Jersey were different. I was around 5 when I started to understand the music my older cousins bumped while we ran around being bad ass kids. One of the first songs I remember was 'Drop it like it's Hot' by Snoop Dogg.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Joey Bada$$, 1999 Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp a Butterfly Smino, Luv 4 Rent Luv 4 Rent, To Pimp a Butterfly, and 1999. These albums perfected creating a world for the listener to dive into. It's a dream-like experience, from the production to the lyrics. Type of music where you never forget your first listen.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Take it Slow” This one is just different. Nobody's ever heard me like this, I stepped out of my comfort-zone to sing and experiment with different cadences. R&B isn't my strong suit but this song has definitely opened the doors to expanding my range.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My first performance with BBP at Boontunes in Jersey was magical. Damn near a hundred people showed up to watch me and the homies perform our rawest music at the time. The energy was insane and to have fans shout my lyrics back at me was special.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'm tryna have my own NPR Tiny Desk performance some day. Nothing is more authentic and wavy than them Tiny Desk sessions! It'd be a surreal experience to be able to perform a live version of my music with a ton of other talents for the world to see.
