About Duke Robillard
Artist Biography
Duke Robillard is an American blues and jazz guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader. His warm, vintage sound and clean playing style reference the history of blues, jump, swing, and roots rock. He began his solo career with Duke Robillard and the Pleasure Kings in 1984. In 1989 he joined the Fabulous Thunderbirds and stayed with them until 1993. He issued three albums for Point Blank including 1997's Dangerous Place. Robillard signed with Stony Plain in 1999 for Conversations in Swing Guitar, in collaboration with guitarist Herb Ellis. 2004's Blue Mood: The Songs of T-Bone Walker won global acclaim. He returned to jazz on 2008's A Swinging Session. 2015's The Acoustic Blues & Roots of Duke Robillard won a Blues Music Award. In 2017, Duke Robillard and His Dames of Rhythm showcased collaborations with female vocalists. In 2022 he was joined by an all-star cast for They Called It Rhythm and Blues.
