About Fox
Artist Biography
This UK band was formed in the mid-70s and comprised Noosha Fox (lead vocals), Herbie Armstrong (guitar, vocals, ex-duo partner to Rod Demick), Kenny Young (guitar, vocals), Jim Gannon (guitar, vocals, ex-Black Widow), plus session musicians Pete Solley (keyboards, vocals), Jim Frank (drums) and Gary Taylor (bass). They scored three UK hits on the GTO label with ‘Only You Can’ (number 3, 1975), ‘Imagine Me, Imagine You’ (number 15, 1975) and ‘S-S-S-Single Bed’ (number 4, 1976) - a run of hits that earned Fox a UK Top 10 album. Despite the band’s musical credentials, their popularity centred mainly around the sexily-voiced Noosha Fox, who later left the band in 1977 to pursue a solo career. The only notable profit for Noosha from this move however, was the achievement of a UK Top 40 single, ‘Georgina Bailey’. The band soldiered on for one more album, Blue Hotel, which flopped, resulting in them splitting soon afterwards. Herbie Armstrong and Kenny Young went on to form the briefly successful Yellow Dog in 1977. Armstrong later engaged in solo performances and worked with Van Morrison from 1978-82, appearing on Wavelength, Into The Music, Common One and Beautiful Vision. Not to be confused with the late 60s UK psych band of the same name.
