About Frankie Laine
Artist Biography
One of the most important solo singers of the immediate pre-rock ‘n’ roll period, Frankie Laine made U.K. pop music history in 1953, when "I Believe" topped the charts for a staggering 18 weeks, a record that has never been eclipsed. It was followed by a total of 22 U.K. Top 20 hits during the 1950s. His career in the U.S. was punctuated by a series of theme songs to Western movies such as GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL, HIGH NOON and the RAWHIDE television series. In the early ‘60s, Laine pursued a full-time career performing around the world as a highly paid cabaret performer, a gig he maintained until shortly before his death in 2007 at the age of 93.
