About Gareth Glyn
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I went to Maes Garmon secondary school in the early 1960s, I was mesmerized by the piano playing and composing skills of the music teacher, Rhys Jones. I resolved to copy him. He took me under his wing, and set me on the road to be a composer!
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Berliner Philharmoniker, Herbert von Karajan, Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring - Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Christian Gerhaher, Daniel Harding, Hans-Werner Bunz, Patricia Petibon, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Tölzer Knabenchor, Orff: Carmina Burana London Philharmonic Choir, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Sir Adrian Boult, Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony I was bowled over by these three works when I played percussion in the University orchestra back in the early 1970s, and they've always been three of my favourite pieces. I never tire of listening to them.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Welsh Incident: But That Was Nothing” This is unique in my catalogue, because it meant that I could work with the great actor Jonathan Pryce (a fellow Welshman) who is the narrator. He told me that he based his interpretation of the character on the voice of his uncle from Colwyn Bay!
