Artist Biography
Former craftsman Brazilian troubadour Gelson Oliveira got involved in the local urban music scene by joining different bands on the weekends, and he was soon participating in festivals around Porto Alegre. In 1983, his first album, called Terra, was released, followed by Imagen Das Pedras, which featured "Pimenta," recorded along with Gilberto Gil. In addition, Oliveira joined a project called Canta Lupi, performing Lupicínio Rodrigues' songs and participating in Nelson Coelho's Juntos, Forca De Agua, and Renato Borhetti's Esse Tal De Borghetinho. In 1995, Gelson Oliveira started touring Europe to promote Julio Rizzo e Gelson Oliveira. ~ Drago Bonacich
