About Houston Jones
Artist Biography
Houston Jones are the brainchild of Louisiana native Travis Jones and multi-instrumentalist Glenn Houston, two strong grassroots musicians who became fast friends at the 2001 Strawberry Music Festival. Prior to that, Jones was a singer/songwriter whose intense Hank Williams, Sr. impersonation won him the lead role in the musical version of the songwriter's life, Lost Highway. Meanwhile, Houston was a New Jersey guitarist with a penchant for the blues, a genre that helped him build a following in San Francisco's Bay Area. Combining their forces, the two musicians began mixing their influences into a roots combination that jumped from genre to genre, with only the common thread of Americana linking many of their songs. Houston Jones recorded their eponymous debut in early 2002 on the Summerhill Records tab; the album arrived that fall. ~ Bradley Torreano
