Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I desperately wanted to get a Beatles album for my birthday, when I was quite young. My parents thought they were a bad influence so bought me a Seekers album instead.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gentle Giant, Octopus (Steven Wilson Mix) Jethro Tull, Aqualung (1996 Bonus Tracks Edition) Yes, Tales from Topographic Oceans These albums demonstrate for me what can be achieved in music composition and arrangement, with a little daring and imagination. Occasionally I notice bits and pieces of them in my compositions.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Confusion, Our Shared Emoticon” While I may have written better songs since, this one gave me the opportunity to directly experience the style of music played by early King Crimson and Procol Harum. It was great fun!
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Releasing "A Drama of Lightness" after a break in music publication of many years. It was scary, but exciting. Just as exciting was learning that some listeners liked it!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There will always be things to explore in music. My composing will naturally develop as I listen and learn. I want to keep bringing more of my influences - prog, post rock, electronic, psychedelic, classical and hard rock - into my writing.
