Artist Biography
The Kafala Brothers are one of the few Angolan bands to make any impression on the World Music scene. Their lilting and lachrymose ballads are strongly indebted to the acoustic guitar style of former colonizers, Portugal, and they sing in Portuguese as well as in the local languages of Kimbundo and Umbundo. The Brothers do play more upbeat music, however, in the dance styles of kilapango and nhatcho. In 1988 and 1990 they toured Europe, ~ Leon Jackson
