About Kamini
Artist Biography
French hip-hop artist Kamini Zantoko was born December 8, 1979, into a Congolese family and grew up in a region that was almost ubiquitously white, offering him a unique perspective that served him well in the long run. His breakthrough hit, "Marly-Gomont," humorously described his experiences as one of only a few Black faces in small-town France. Releasing the song on Fun Radio, Skyrock, and Contact FM, Kamini earned almost instant fame and utilized the web to popularize his music and videos rather than traditional music industry channels. Follow-up singles paved the way for Kamini's first full-length record, Psychostar World, which was released in 2007. The record hit the Top Ten on national charts, earning a spot on Billboard's European Top 100. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
