Led by singer and guitarist Manuel España, La Guardia is a rock band from Granada, Spain. Signed by Tubo Escape Records in 1985 after winning a local talent contest, the group issued its debut album, Noches Como Ésta, the following year. The band gradually earned a place of honor in the pantheon of Spanish rock, releasing several albums that deftly combined rock, country, pop, and Andalusian music. La Guardia called it quits in 1997, only to return in 2003 with a different lineup. In 2008 the band celebrated its 25th anniversary with a duets album featuring the likes of Ariel Rot, Raimundo Amador, Chenoa, and many others. La Guardia's 15th album, Por la Cara, arrived in 2017. ~ Mariano Prunes
