About Les Grandes Gueules
Artist Biography
Québecois comedy duo Les Grandes Gueules teamed José Gaudet and Mario Tessier, who began their collaboration in 1992. They quickly emerged as fixtures of Montreal radio, creating a series of original characters in addition to broad caricatures of local politicians and personalities, and in 1996 issued their first sketch comedy LP, Les Grandes Gueules, Vol. 94.3. Their first live tour, dubbed "Les Grandes Gueules -- Le Show," followed in 2000, attracting more than 100,000 fans in all and in 2002 generating a live DVD. The duo's Radio Énergie network series also brought in record audiences, winning the Association Canadienne des Radiodiffuseurs' Ruban d'Or award as Canada's best French-language humor broadcast three consecutive years running. Les Grandes Gueules also claimed the Félix Award for Best Comedy Album in 2003 for Le Disque, in 2004 for Poursuite and in 2005 for Live. In November 2006, Gaudet and Tessier announced plans to end their radio series the following May to pursue new creative challenges. ~ Jason Ankeny
