Lisa Lisa is a versatile singer whose work is highlighted by freestyle, dance-pop, and salsa floor-fillers, along with adult contemporary ballads. She broke through beside Cult Jam and Full Force in 1985. Their effervescent "I Wonder if I Take You Home," the first of several gold hits they scored together, led to the platinum success of their self-titled full-length. Having cracked the pop Top 40, Lisa scaled higher with the Top Ten single "All Cried Out" and topped the chart in 1987 with "Head to Toe" and "Lost in Emotion," off Spanish Fly. After two more LPs, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam split, and Lisa responded with 1993's LL 77. Though she didn't follow it up until 2009's Love 'n Life, she was active as a performer and juggled acting work. Salsa singles released in 2024 coincided with her role as madrina ("godmother") of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade.
