About Lord Flea
Artist Biography
Lord Flea (born Norman Thomas) was one of the originators of modern calypso. Allegedly dubbed "Calypso king of Jamaica" in 1951, Lord Flea appeared in American-made films such as "Bop Girl Goes Calypso" and "Calypso Joe." In the late-'50s, Lord Flea was featured, along with Lord Kitchener, in New York as a member of Geoffrey Holder's revue, Caribbean Festival. Accompanied by his band, The Calypsonians, Lord Flea recorded an album, Swingin' Calypsos, for Capitol in 1957. ~ Craig Harris
