About Los Panchos
Artist Biography
Formed in 1944, Latin American pop icons Los Panchos (who are sometimes known as Trio Los Panchos) were instrumental in popularizing the bolero and romantic ballad genres.
∙ Puerto Rican bolero greats Julito Rodriguez and Johnny Albino were once part of the trio’s lineup.
∙ They crossed over to the US Pop charts with 1964’s Amor and 1965’s More Amor, both of which featured American vocalist Eydie Gorme singing in Spanish.
∙ Los Panchos collaborated with vocal group The Jordanaires on 1967’s Spanish-language country covers album Hey, Amigo!.
∙ 24 Grandes Canciones—a 1994 compilation with Eydie Gorme of collaborations such as the folk song “Sabor a Mí”—reached No. 31 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
