About Master Splinter
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. (Mick) I played my dad's friend's electric guitar when I was 5 years old. I thought it was the most amazing sound I'd ever heard. I broke a string while they were in the other room. I got nervous. I then saw that I had a huge blister on my finger!
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alice In Chains, Dirt (Remastered) Rage Against the Machine, Rage Against the Machine Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger (25th Anniversary / Remastered 2016) These albums stand out in my memory because they changed and intensified my love of music in a meaningful way. After hearing each of these records, I felt like I had a new and permanent perspective on music overall, and I felt profoundly inspired.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Dragon's Blood!” This was written in a high rise apartment, high above the bustling streets of Shenzhen, Guangdong China. I (Mick) wrote the music, and showed it to my friend Ed Boyd-Shaw. We wanted to write a fantasy fiction song, and Dragon's Blood was born.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Every moment counts, even when you play music over the course of decades, with hundreds of different people in dozens of different countries. Each show, recording session, rehearsal and jam session is a treasured experience that changes you.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There is no bucket list. We simply make music to the best of our ability, record it to the best of our ability, share our music with anyone willing to listen, and let things happen how they will. Music will take us on a journey. It already has.
