About Molly
Artist Biography
Molly Smitten-Downes, better known simply by her first name Molly, was selected to represent the United Kingdom at the 2014 edition of the Eurovision song contest in Copenhagen. The singer/songwriter had flirted with chart success since 2005 as part of the dance and music project Stunt, who enjoyed mild success in 2008 with a mash-up track "Raindrops (Encore une Fois)," in collaboration with electronic producer Sash!. Her vocal talents were soon recognized by Swedish producer Basshunter, who invited her to feature on his album Bass Generation, where Molly provided vocals on "I Will Learn to Love Again." She then embarked on her solo career with an acoustic EP, Fly Away from Me in 2011, and two years later worked with Anders Hansson's project Dream Beats. Molly's big break came when she was selected for 2014's Eurovision, for which she wrote and performed "Children of the Universe," and eventually finished in 17th position with 40 points. In the lead up to the competition, she penned a deal with Warner Music and released "Children of the Universe" as a single, which entered the U.K. Top 40 chart. ~ Scott Kerr
