Artist Biography
A Senegalese singer and guitarist, Obree Daman first caught the public's attention in 2016 as a contestant on the French-speaking African version of the popular reality singing competition The Voice.
Growing up in Dakar, Daman spent his formative years soaking in the sounds of R&B, jazz, and reggae, and listening to his mother sing traditional West African Serer music. Looking to make his own mark in the music industry, he won the Vibe Radio Urban Music competition in early 2016, and later that year made it onto the inaugural season of The Voice Afrique Francophone. In 2017 he teamed up with a Senegal telecom firm and the African Victory label for the promotional single "Ensemble," and in 2018 he appeared on the Sunu Folk compilation with the track "Le Tout Puissant." ~ James Christopher Monger
