Artist Biography
Hailing from the Bronx, ScarLip embodies the aggressive, streetwise spirit of her borough. Born Sierra Lucas in 2000, she began rapping after being inspired by the anthemic reality raps of DMX. By 2020, she had cultivated a buzz with world-weary songs like "Therapy" and "Foster Care", tracks that documented her tumultuous upbringing with raw honesty. But it was her 2022 single "Glizzy Gobbler" that announced her as an emerging force. With a percussive flow and a hilarious premise, the track promptly went viral, setting the stage for a subsequent level-up that involved menacing anthems like "No Statements" and "Blick". Combining scabrous bars and a blunt delivery with beats meant to soundtrack the dance floor, ScarLip pushed herself to the forefront of the New York drill scene, distilling her fury with a flare that's as evocative as it is unsparing.
