About Sergeant
Artist Biography
This predominantly Swiss, six-piece group was formed from the ashes of the Steve Whitney Band. Comprising Pete Prescott (vocals), Rob Seales (guitar), Chrigi Wiedemeier (guitar), Urs Amacher (keyboards), Rolf Schlup (bass) and Gary Steimer (drums), they specialized in Americanized hard rock with melodic undercurrents. Signing to Mausoleum Records, they debuted in 1985 with Sergeant, a workmanlike rock record that paid respect to Van Halen, Kiss and Foreigner. Streetwise, released the following year, was a major disappointment, as it merely regurgitated and reprocessed the riffs of their debut. Disillusioned by the media and public response, the band went their separate ways shortly after the album was released. In 1988 Seales and Amacher re-formed the band with new members Romy Caviezel (vocals), Harry Borner (bass) and Urs Rothenbuhler (drums).
