Formed in Philadelphia in the late '90s, the Asteroid #4 count the many waves of psychedelia--from its '60s origins to '80s L.A.'s Paisley Underground to shoegazing '90s London--as its inspirational springboard. Shooting to recognition among neo-psych devotees for an early cover of Spacemen 3, the band has since released several albums of deep space anthems that layer Byrds-like guitar arpeggios with the bent-string noise of My Bloody Valentine. Each progressive album has honed their miasmic take--with the exception of 2003's California country-rock excursion HONEYSPOT--and eventually landed them in neo-psych's epicenter, Anton Newcombe's label, the Committee to Keep Music Evil.
