About The Bowling Green
Artist Biography
Micko Westmorland was one of the only artists associated with the English "drill'n'bass" scene to rise above the level of fleeting phase. Combining elements of electro, jungle, and downtempo/trip-hop in odd, fidgety, often humorous juxtapositions, Westmorland contributed a track to erstwhile techno/electronica label Rising High's Further Self-Evident Truths compilation series before that label folded in 1996, at which point he signed with eclectic label Blue Planet. The "Mingle" and "Chaise Lounge" EPs appeared through Blue Planet that year, followed by an LP, One Pound Note, in 1997. Notably, One Pound Note was among a string of U.K. post-techno licensings (also including releases by Squarepusher and Autechre) by Trent Reznor's Nothing label. ~ Sean Cooper
