About The Jody Grind
Artist Biography
Forerunners of the retro lounge craze of the 1990s, the Jody Grind were among the first to synthesize a cocktail jazz sound with an indie rock aesthetic. Fronted by silky-voiced singer Kelly Hogan, the Jody Grind developed a following in the 1980s in their native Atlanta with a stylish mix of swing, jazz, country, and rock. 1990 saw the release of the group’s full-length debut, ONE MAN’S TRASH IS ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE, with LEFTY’S DECEIVER following two years later. The Jody Grind disbanded after two of its members were killed in a car accident, although Hogan continues to perform and record as a solo artist.
