About Vox
Artist Biography
Vōx (real name, Sarah Winters) is an American alternative pop artist known for her atmospheric and ethereal covers of alt-R&B and hip-hop cuts as well as the ghostly, introspective stylings of her 2017 EP, I Was Born. Based out of Los Angeles, California, she made her appearance on the local scene in 2016 with her cover of Kendrick Lamar's "I." Having explained that her stage name is Latin for "voice," it became clear that vocals were the crucial point of her compositions. The cover received wide attention for its lavish, multi-layered mix and unique interpretation of the Lamar fan favorite.
Following the release of "I," Vōx kept busy recording further covers as well as original material. She returned in 2017 with her debut EP, I Was Born, which was conceptually and thematically focused on anxiety, power, and rebirth. That same year she began performing throughout California, gaining more fans after receiving attention for her veiled and mysterious stage presence. In December of 2017, Vōx signed with Zync Music, and made her label debut in 2018 with a cover of Kanye West's "Runaway." She returned a couple of months later with a reinterpretation of "Swim Good" by Frank Ocean, and embarked on a tour of Europe that summer. ~ Rob Wacey
