About Warren Vaché
Artist Biography
Raised on the jazz music of his bass-playing father (Warren Vache Sr.), the junior Vache took up the cornet and played in his father’s band from an early age. From the mid '70s he was attracting critical acclaim for his performances with the New York Jazz Repertory Orchestra and Benny Goodman's band. During the late '70s and throughout the '80s, Vache worked with Scott Hamilton in bands such as George Wein’s Newport Jazz Festival All-Stars and the Concord Super Band. Stylistically, Vache's music has strong echoes in the post-Louis Armstrong tradition, an extension of the melodic style of Bobby Hackett and Ruby Braff, which is showcased on several excellent albums for Concord Jazz, notably Polished Brass (1979), Warm Evenings (1989), Dream Dancing for Arbors (2004).
