Known for a sublimely dulcet vocal style suited for modern pop as well as traditional film music, India-born Canadian artist Jonita Gandhi found an early fan and supporter in composer A. R. Rahman, who recruited her for the electronic-informed “Mental Manadhil” from 2015 romantic movie O Kadhal Kanmani. Since then, Gandhi has notched up songs with top composers like Anirudh Ravichander and Harris Jayaraj—acing folksy love ballads as well as party anthems.
