Runtown came to prominence in 2014 with his shuffling Afropop anthem "Gallardo" featuring Davido, which won Best Collaboration at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The vocalist and producer (born Douglas Jack Agu) followed this partnership with 2015's "Lagos To Kampala" featuring Wizkid, cementing his place in the Nigerian dancehall scene. On his own, Runtown provides both trap bangers full of rattling 808s and sunny tracks with R&B vocals that seem tailored for warm weather, showing his ability to twist his energetic style into both club-ready and beach-ready sounds. Yet he’s not afraid to play with jazz-infused moods either, as showcased on 2020’s "Kini Issue"—or to use them to highlight issues he’s passionate about on “If E Happen For Lagos”.
