Taking in traditional Indian music, R&B and ambient, Sandunes has traversed a vast landscape of sounds and moods since the start of the 2010s. Born Sanaya Ardeshir, Sandunes creates music that reflects her multicultural background—she lived in London and worked with the virtuosic drummer/producer Richard Spaven. On “Tree of Life”, “Evelyn” and “In Readiness”, Ardeshir and Spaven bounce ideas off each other, resulting in a mix of freewheeling jazz, electronic music and more at a thrilling intersection of tones and textures.
