Telugu cinema has propelled a number of music composers to national and international fame. Tollywood soundtracks provide a fertile source that draws on a wide array of styles, from slick pop grooves to traditional Indian rhythms based on Carnatic forms. What ties everything together, though, is a reliance on the inherent poetry and natural cadences of the ancient Telugu language in South India.
