Egyptian musician and screen actor Moustafa Amar stayed at the University at Alexandria, Egypt, until the age of 28, extending his study in commerce in order to spend more time working on songs with writer Sameh El Ajami. The title track to Amar's debut album, 1990's Wassaf, is an early example of his buoyant Arabic pop. Through the years, Amar has made increasingly sophisticated dance-friendly tracks, while also collaborating with Hamid El Shari, the Gipsy Kings and Sherine Wagby.
