During a year-long recovery period, he turned to music as a distraction from his situation, developing a soulful vocal style that would later win countless hearts. The artist honed his singing skills so well, in fact, that he became a hit in Milan’s nightclubs within a few years of being discharged from hospital. That led to a glittering recording career for Baroni as one of Italy’s most celebrated soft rock stars. Fans adored his tales of love, loss and yearning in songs such as 1997’s “Male Che Fa Male” and 1998’s “Onde”. His death in 2002, aged just 35, shocked the nation, but his musical legacy lives on.
