Famous for their intricate sounds, New Jersey metalcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan officially formed in 1997. They found underground success with their early releases, like 1999's Calculating Infinity, which found them taking the mind-bending arrangements of technical metal and math rock, and playing them with the brute-force attack of hardcore punk. After collaborating with alternative metal icon Mike Patton of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle on the 2002 EP Irony Is a Dead Scene, DEP moved into a slightly more melodic direction with 2010's Operation Paralysis.
